Monaco Regatta & Sailing Season — Voiles de Saint-Tropez & YCMC Transfers

May 2026 · 7 min read · FFGR Monaco Team

The sailing season on the French and Italian Riviera runs from April through October, with its most concentrated programme of regattas in September and October. For clients who own or crew classic and modern yachts competing in the Voiles de Saint-Tropez, the Monaco Classic Week, the Rolex Giraglia, or the YCMC regattas in Monaco's own port, FFGR Monaco provides the ground transport logistics that allow the focus to remain on sailing rather than on schedules. Port-to-restaurant, marina-to-airport, base-to-regatta-HQ: we handle the land side so the sea side can run.

The Monaco Classic Week

The Monaco Classic Week — Semaine Classique de Monaco — is held each September in Port Hercule under the auspices of the Yacht Club de Monaco. It is the most prestigious classic yacht regatta in the Mediterranean, combining competitive racing with an exhibition of privately owned classics of extraordinary provenance. FFGR operates a dedicated transfer service for Monaco Classic Week participants, covering hotel-to-port movements, owners' dinner transfers, and the award ceremony transport.

Port Hercule during Classic Week operates on a restricted access basis for non-participating vessels. FFGR works with the YCM access control team each year to maintain vehicle clearance for client transfers directly to the pontoon area, eliminating the walk from the public car park that standard access requires.

Voiles de Saint-Tropez

The Voiles de Saint-Tropez — held during the first week of October — is the largest classic and vintage sailing regatta in the world by entry count, with over 300 boats and a spectator and hospitality programme that transforms the town for a full week. From Monaco, the drive to Saint-Tropez is 1h30 to 2h30 depending on day and time — a manageable transfer that FFGR operates on a daily basis throughout the regatta week for clients based in the Principality.

The Voiles requires specific parking strategy: the town of Saint-Tropez restricts vehicle access during race days, and the spectator areas on the port are pedestrian-only. FFGR uses the designated press and sponsor parking area at Port Grimaud and runs a final connection by tender or on foot to the main port from there, with the vehicle held in Grimaud for return collection.

Rolex Giraglia and Offshore Racing

The Rolex Giraglia offshore race — starting from Genova or from the Giraglia Rock off the northern tip of Corsica and finishing in Saint-Tropez — generates transfer requirements on both the Italian side (Genova departure logistics) and the French side (Saint-Tropez arrival and celebration transfers). FFGR coordinates Giraglia transfers with the Genova Airport service already in our standard portfolio: car from Monaco to Genova, delivery to the departure quay, return to Monaco after the start.

For yacht owners whose boats have professional crew, FFGR coordinates the crew transfer independently from the owner programme — ensuring that delivery crew, race crew, and owners all reach their correct staging points at the correct time without relying on a single vehicle for all movements.

Regatta Season Booking

Sailing season transfers have different lead times depending on the event. For Monaco Classic Week and the Voiles de Saint-Tropez, which have fixed annual dates, we recommend booking the full event week programme in July or early August. For individual race day transfers, 48 hours' notice is generally sufficient outside of the peak regatta weeks.

FFGR maintains a standing relationship with the Yacht Club de Monaco, the CONAM Monaco sailing federation, and the Port of Saint-Tropez authority, which enables us to receive early access to event logistics information and to integrate our client transfer programme with the official event schedule.
