The Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo opens the FIA World Rally Championship season each January and is the oldest rally in the world, having run continuously since 1911. The event begins with competitive stages in the French Alps — around Gap, Sisteron, and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence — and concludes with ceremonial and competitive sections in Monaco itself. For principals who follow the WRC, who are hosted by the manufacturers, or who wish to experience the unique atmosphere of a January rally on the Alpine roads, FFGR Monaco provides both the Monaco city service and the Alpine stage access.
The Rally's Monaco Sections — Ceremonial Start and Final Day
The Rallye Monte-Carlo's ceremonial start takes place on the Place du Casino on the opening Thursday evening, with the competing cars staged across the Casino Square before departure. For principals attending the start ceremony, we provide a vehicle positioned on Avenue des Beaux-Arts before the square is closed to traffic at six in the evening.
The final day of the rally returns to Monaco for the Power Stage — a timed section on the roads above the Principality that runs from La Turbie toward Sainte-Agnes and returns to Monaco via the Route de Moulins. For clients who wish to watch the Power Stage from the road, we coordinate access to the designated spectator zones on the upper corniche routes.
Alpine Stage Access — Gap and Sisteron
The competitive stages of the Rallye Monte-Carlo are held in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region, centred on Gap. For principals who wish to attend the stages in the mountains — watching the cars on the Sisteron or Thorenc special stages — we provide a dedicated transfer from Monaco to the stage location, including the three-hour drive each way on the mountain roads.
Stage access for spectators requires advance registration through the rally's official organiser. We coordinate the ticket and access arrangements as part of the transfer programme, positioning the vehicle at the designated spectator zone and advising on the best vantage points based on the specific stage's character.
The Service Park at Parc des Sports de Gap
The service park for the Rallye Monte-Carlo is traditionally located at the Parc des Sports in Gap, where the manufacturer teams set up their service bays for the duration of the rally. For principals who are guests of a manufacturer team — Toyota, Hyundai, M-Sport Ford, or Citroen — access to the service park provides proximity to the cars, the engineers, and the drivers in the working environment between stages.
The service park at Gap is a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Monaco. For clients attending both the Monaco ceremony and the Gap stages, we provide a two-day programme with an overnight in Gap or the surrounding region. The Chateau de Roussan near Saint-Remy-de-Provence is a composed option for principals who value property over proximity.
January Conditions and Vehicle Preparation
The Rallye Monte-Carlo is run in the most challenging weather conditions of the year for the French pre-Alps. The competitive stages are typically driven on snow, ice, and the mixed surface transitions that the Monte-Carlo's reputation for unpredictability is built on. Our transfer vehicles for the January rally programme are equipped with winter tyres and all-weather capability as standard.
For principals attending from Monaco with no prior Alpine winter experience, we advise against attempting the mountain roads independently. The roads to the spectator stages are often compacted snow on the approach sections; our chauffeurs are trained for Alpine winter conditions and have completed the section before the principal's departure to confirm road status.
The Podium Ceremony on the Place du Casino
The Rallye Monte-Carlo concludes with a podium ceremony on the Place du Casino on Sunday afternoon. The ceremony is public, draws significant crowds to the Casino Square, and takes place before the square is reopened to normal traffic. For principals attending the podium as guests of a manufacturer, we hold the vehicle at the Casino's north entrance on Avenue de Monte-Carlo and coordinate the post-ceremony pickup.
For clients who have attended the rally from the opening ceremony on Thursday to the podium on Sunday, the four-day service is managed as a single continuous programme with one point of contact throughout. All Alpine transfers, Monaco positioning, and hotel logistics are confirmed in a single itinerary document issued before the opening ceremony.
